What dog breed is your match? Our dogs have a special place in our hearts and for every owner the reasons are different. <\/p>\n

Besides their loyalty and unconditional love, some owners cherish the friendship and therapy they get from spending time with their four-legged companions.<\/h1>\n

Other owners enjoy the exercise and health benefits that come from daily runs with their furry friends, while others take comfort having a guard dog around. Master of the House<\/h2>\n

Gentle and friendly, Labrador Retrievers make great family dogs. Labs are eager to please and because of their intelligent nature they have been used in search-and-rescue, law enforcement, and as guide dogs. Despite their name, Labradors originated from Newfoundland Canada, where they helped their fisherman masters haul nets, fetch ropes and retrieve fish from the icy water. Labs are highly sociable with children and other dogs. Due to their sweet nature they make excellent therapy dogs but hopeless watch dogs. An excellent overall companion and friend, it\u2019s no surprise Labrador Retrievers have been the number 1 most popular breed in America for the last 5 years (according to the American Kennel Club).<\/p>\n

The Protector<\/h2>\n

What breed originated in Germany around 1890 and is named after a tax collector? The Doberman Pinscher of course. These dogs were bred to be a great medium sized companion and guard dog, perfect for protecting Louis Dobermann the tax collector from burglars. Dobie\u2019s are alert, fearless and highly trainable. In the 1940\u2019s they were used as war dogs where they explored new and dangerous territories. The Dobermans\u2019 keen sense of smell and hearing allowed them to protect their units from ambush or infiltration.<\/p>\n

Enduro<\/h2>\n

Interested in a canine marathon training buddy for life? Look no further than the Australian cattle dog, AKA a Blue Heeler. These dog have almost boundless energy and will most likely be asking for more after pulling you through your training run. Used to rounding up cattle in Australia\u2019s harsh climate Blue Heelers are indispensable to the beef industry. Modern Australian Cattle dogs are a variable mixture of Collies, Dalmatians, Kelpies, Bull Terriers and dingoes (an Australian wild dog breed). An Australian cattle dog named Bluey holds the world record of the oldest dog at 29 years and 5 months. Bluey spent nearly 20 years herding cattle and sheep…Well done buddy!<\/p>\n

Homebody<\/h2>\n

If you have love to give but don\u2019t have the space, there\u2019s still a breed for you. English Bulldogs are renowned for being calm, good with children and good with naps. Besides the regular walk and occasional play day, English Bulldogs don\u2019t require much exercise. Another plus for busy working owners is that English Bulldogs are generally quiet and more agreeable to be alone than most other breeds. Perfect for living in condos and apartments, English Bulldogs hold the title of 4th most popular dog breed.<\/p>\n

The now-tiny Pomeranian has a long and interesting history. Descendants from large sled dogs, these creatures at one stage weighed more than 30 pounds. With a super cute face and a strong personality, it\u2019s no wonder Pomeranians were the dog of choice for Martin Luther, Michelangelo, Isaac Newton, Mozart and Queen Victoria.<\/p>\n

Shiba Inu<\/h3>\n

The Shiba Inu is one of six native Japanese dog breeds. They were originally bred to flush birds and small game, and even occasionally hunt wild boar. These days the Shiba Inu are mainly beautiful companion dogs.<\/p>\n
