Named a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2003 and one of Japan’s “Three Holy Mountains” along with Mount Tate and Mount Haku, the experience of climbing the mountain is certainly challenging, but rewarding.

The Dolomites are located in northeastern Italy, and are nearly equally shared between the provinces of Belluno, South Tyrol and Trentino. Formed of dolomitic limestone, they’re the perfect mountains if looking for a getaway, a seasonal hike, or simply to admire the view and take pictures.

Mount Bromo, Indonesia

Mount Bromo is the only active crater in the Tengger caldera, which contains seven eruptive centres. Not only is it the most famous mountain in Indonesia, but also a popular tourist destination. Mount Bromo is located in the middle of the “Sea of Sand” plain, a protected nature reserve, which makes it hard to navigate through it as there isn’t much public transport available. However, once you reach the top, the mountain has some spectacular views.

Glenorchy is nestled on the northern shores of Lake Wakatipu of Otago in New Zealand. Lying near the borders of Mount Aspiring National Park and Fiordland National Park, Glenorchy is surrounded by towering mountains, glacier fed rivers and ancient beech forests. In fact, biking is a common activity in the area, and the mountains provide paradisiac landscapes.

High Tatras, Slovakia

The High Tatras are a mountain range located at the border of northern Slovakia, also partly shared with southern Poland. These mountains, which have 29 peaks over 2,500 meters, were home of the first European cross-border national park. With its hiking paths highly in demand, beautiful mountain lakes and waterfalls, rare animals and majestic peaks, the High Tatras are worth visiting and viewing.

Listed as Canada’s most visited and oldest national park, Banff National Park is located in the west of Calgary in Alberta. Directly inside the Rocky Mountains, the park provides amazing views while navigating through Moraine Lake, and the combination of rocks and silt on the lake floor gives the water its stunning blue color.
