Mount Fuji, Japan
Mount Fuji is an active stratovolcano located on Honshu Island, in south of Tokyo. It is the highest point and the most prominent mountain in the country. Named a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2003 and one of Japan’s “Three Holy Mountains” along with Mount Tate and Mount Haku, the experience of climbing the mountain is certainly challenging, but rewarding.
Dolomites Mountains, Italy
The Dolomites are located in northeastern Italy, and are nearly equally shared between the provinces of Belluno, South Tyrol and Trentino. Formed of dolomitic limestone, they’re the perfect mountains if looking for a getaway, a seasonal hike, or simply to admire the view and take pictures.
Mount Bromo, Indonesia
Mount Bromo is the only active crater in the Tengger caldera, which contains seven eruptive centres. Not only is it the most famous mountain in Indonesia, but also a popular tourist destination. Mount Bromo is located in the middle of the “Sea of Sand” plain, a protected nature reserve, which makes it hard to navigate through it as there isn’t much public transport available. However, once you reach the top, the mountain has some spectacular views.
Yosemite National Park Mountains, United States
Located in the western Sierra Nevada of California, Yosemite National Park is highly notorious for its lakes, glaciers, cliffs, waterfalls, giant groves and mountains. Its granite rock formations are particularly renowned, some of which are rising above 14,000 feet off the ground. Considered as natural wonders, the mountains are generally easily accessible.
The Lost Cliffs of Oahu, Hawaii
Being the third largest of the Hawaiian Islands, Oahu offers a number of scenic cliffs overlooking green luxuriant vegetation. In fact, Oahu is considered to be one of the best places to go when looking for an adventure, as its cliffs and mountains are perfect for cliff diving, and jumping directly into the ocean. But the beauty of the landscapes also makes Oahu a perfect destination for capturing amazing pictures.
Scottish Highlands, Scotland
The Scottish Highlands, known locally as the Highlands are a historic region of Scotland with many mountain ranges, including its highest mountain in the British Isles, Ben Nevis. Also home of secret beaches, glens and rivers, ancient woods and deep lochs, the Scottish Highlands offers a vast natural wonderful view.
Glenorchy Mountains, New Zealand
Glenorchy is nestled on the northern shores of Lake Wakatipu of Otago in New Zealand. Lying near the borders of Mount Aspiring National Park and Fiordland National Park, Glenorchy is surrounded by towering mountains, glacier fed rivers and ancient beech forests. In fact, biking is a common activity in the area, and the mountains provide paradisiac landscapes.
High Tatras, Slovakia
The High Tatras are a mountain range located at the border of northern Slovakia, also partly shared with southern Poland. These mountains, which have 29 peaks over 2,500 meters, were home of the first European cross-border national park. With its hiking paths highly in demand, beautiful mountain lakes and waterfalls, rare animals and majestic peaks, the High Tatras are worth visiting and viewing.
Banff National Park, Canada
Listed as Canada’s most visited and oldest national park, Banff National Park is located in the west of Calgary in Alberta. Directly inside the Rocky Mountains, the park provides amazing views while navigating through Moraine Lake, and the combination of rocks and silt on the lake floor gives the water its stunning blue color.
Home to one of the largest and fastest built complexes of Eastern Orthodox monasteries, the Meteora is a rock formation found in central Greece. A well renowned UNESCO World Heritage Site, its popular six mountaintop monasteries, located 1,300 feet above ground, offer wonderful and dramatic views.
